“After 60 minutes, my legs were going” – Jack Wilshere speaks about his return

Arsenal midfielder, Jack Wilshere, has admitted that there were times he did not even want to think of football, in the 14 months he was out injured. The 20-year-old started the game at the Emirates against QPR on Saturday and played for over an hour.
“There are some days when you came into the physio room and the lads were going out, you just do not want to be there because after 10 or 11 months it gets to you,” Wilshere said. “I am happy to be back now, so hopefully we can push on.”
The England international, despite showing flashes of brilliance, says it will take some time for him to be firing on all cylinders.
“This is my first long-term injury, so I am not really used to it. After 60 minutes, my legs were going, so maybe next time after 70 or 80 then so on,” he added on BBC Sport.
Wilshere also insisted he was not bothered by the heavy challenges he received from Esteban Granero and Samba Diakite, as it is to be expected in football.
“It is all part and parcel of football, there are going to be challenges on both of my ankles and my knees, it is part of my game and I am going to have to get used to it,” he said.

Kaduna blast: There are many casualties – Survivor

A survivor of this morning bomb attack at Linus Lighthouse, said two bombers struck different parts of the packed St Rita’s church, in Kaduna.
However, contrary to reports that a lone bomber rammed into the Church gate, Linus revealed that more than one person carried out the attack and that the suspects got right inside the building.
He said, “I cannot tell you how many casualties, but there were many. The heavy explosion also damaged so many buildings around the area.”
But Aminu Lawal, Kaduna police spokesman, said there was only one confirmed bomber and that no casualties had yet been confirmed apart from the bomber himself.

Poisoned corn meal sends man, 4 children to their grave in Enugu

Residents of Mbu Apochi community in Isi-uzo local government area of Enugu State were recently thrown into panic and confusion following the tragic death of a man simply identified as Mr. Charles Nnadi and his four children after taking a corn and cassava meal believed to have been poisoned. The tragedy has since thrown the entire community into heavy pandemonium while members of the Nnadi family are still in shock and disbelief.
According to reliable sources, the late Nnadi and his six children fell sick and unconscious after eating the mixture of cassava and corn flour and were rushed to St. Mark’s Hospital, Eha-Amufu by sympathizers but the doctor confirmed the family head and two of his children died few minutes after their arrival.

Bomb Blast Hits Catholic Church in Kaduna

It appears Sunday attacks in the Northern part of the country is becoming a norm as a suicide bombers this morning hit St. Rita’s Catholic Church in  Ungwar Yero  area of Kaduna metropolis.
The attack which reportedly injured the Reverend father of the church occurred around 8:45 AM during the morning mass.
Witnesses say a car approached the church gate and sought to quietly drive into the church. But for the quick intervention of the vigilant security men at the gate who refused him entry, he may have done serious damage.
The bomber apparently knowing he would not be allowed in, reversed his car and rammed it forcefully against the gate of the church.
On collision, the gate caved in as the bomb exploded injuring several church members, some seriously. The suspect is feared dead but no official confirmation yet.

A British magician has apparently walked across the River Thames, in front of the Houses of Parliament, and claims that no trick photography was used in the stunt. 28-year-old Dynamo – real name Steve Frayne – performed the trick as part of his upcoming TV showDynamo: Magician Impossible, which starts on the Watch channel in a couple of weeks.The stunt was certainly eye-catching and has gained Dynamo a great deal of press. 
I wonder if Dynamo will ever reveal how he performed the trick. Is it possible to walk on water? Except he is Jesus, which I am very sure he isn't.

Yola plane crash: Aviation Ministry say Governor Suntai, five others alive [Photos]

The Federal Ministry of Aviation has issued a statement confirming that the Governor of Taraba State, Danbaba Suntai, and the other five passengers aboard the Governor’s private plane that crashed in Yola are alive.

25-year old human parts seller nabbed in Lagos

Residents of Shagamu Road, Ikorodu, Lagos, are still in shock over the recent arrest of a 25-year-old man who specialises in exhuming and selling human parts for rituals.
Frail looking Rahaman Abdul was caught with a fresh human head in a cemetery along Shagamu Road Ikorodu, on October 5.
Confirming the shocking news, which threw residents of the area into confusion, Mr. Ade Bayo, who claims to be the personal assistant to the vice chairman of Ikorodu Local Government Area squealed that before Abdul was arrested on that fateful day, the security men at the cemetery had always complained bitterly on how they usually find the cemetery in bad shape with body parts littered around the vicinity almost every morning. Truck pusher stabs prostitute to death in Warri, claims that “something is wrong with him”

A 22-year-old truck pusher, identified as Samuel Akuro, is now in the hospital under the watchful eyes of the police for allegedly stabbing a female prostitute to death in the oil-rich city of Warri, Delta State. The suspect, it was gathered, also stabbed himself out of fear of the mob, when it dawned on him that his victim had died. more after the jump.
The incident started when the truck pusher visited a brothel along Okere road and approached two ladies, who separately turned him down.

Chinwe Biringa, mother of the murdered Chiadika Biringa, a second year student of Theatre Arts at UNIPORT had written a petition to the Senate President dated 9 October, 2012 with the title ‘’Petition: Gruesome murder of my son at Aluu, University of Port Harcourt host community.’’

Part of the letter which was addressed to the senate president reads: “my name is Mrs. Chinwe Biringa. I am the mother of Mr. Chiadika Biringa, a second year student of Theatre Arts at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT). My husband is a very senior staff officer at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.

“My son turned 20 years old this week and we gave him pocket money to celebrate it with his friends. On Friday morning, we were called by my second son, also a UNIPORT student that all was not well and he was hearing bad rumours that villagers at ALUU, the host community of UNIPORT had murdered four students. I immediately rushed to the scene only to see my son’s dead body being taken away Unclad to a mortuary in UNIPORT Teaching Hospital. I could not believe my eyes and collapsed.


“What did my son do? What did the other three young men who died with him do? First, we heard that the four students were alleged to have stolen a Blackberry phone and a laptop computer. This could not be further from the truth. My son has had a Blackberry phone and in fact a laptop computer since he was in primary school. No way could my son steal such a common thing as a cell phone which every village woman now owns.

“We have been subjected to several gory videos and pictures on the internet. This shows that someone filmed the whole barbarism from beginning to end. My son and his friends were savagely beaten and burnt to death while villagers at ALUU watched. All this has been caught on film!

“The video shows that all this was filmed in broad day light which suggests that they were killed after 7.30 am. Further investigation has revealed that they left their friend’s house at ALUU at about 7 am to go and prepare for lectures.

“To waylay them and beat them with planks until they died like chicken is the most savage thing one can witness in Nigeria of 2012. First they were stripped Unclad, marched around like frogs and then beaten to death. What savagery and bestiality.

“My husband and I want only two things, namely: (a) To clear the name of Chiadika, (b) justice

“Your Excellency, every responsible parent knows what I, my husband, and the entire family are passing through over this beastly murder.

“Again, and for emphasis, the film shows everything in clear view and all the perpetrators must answer for their crimes.

“We want Justice. Those who murdered my son must face the wrath of the law.

“Heartbroken mother.’’

IRS plane and truck collide at MM Airport in Lagos

An IRS Plane yesterday morning collided with an abandoned truck parked beside the taxiway at Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos. The wing of the aircraft collided with the truck which forced the Kano-bound plane to cancel the flight. Passengers were later put in another flight.

A statement from IRS Airline below...

“This morning our flight LVB 3306 taxied out on a Lagos to Kano flight with a transit stop at Abuja. The aircraft taxied out at 7:48am with 91 passengers. While taxing on the taxi way the Captain observed a FAAN truck in a ditch. There were no marshals around it neither was there any marking to indicate that it encroached into the taxi way. There was no Notice To Air Men (NOTAM) issued to that effect as well. The captain continued on his taxi and the wing tip hit a protrusion from the truck towards the rear of the truck. This made the captain request a return to ramp from the tower and also notify the tower of the incident and the danger posed by the truck. The passengers were disembarked and accommodated in another aircraft which departed Lagos at 10:15am. The incident has been reported to Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and we await the clearance of the NCAA to effect repairs and return the aircraft to service.

No passenger or crew sustained injuries as a result of the incident.
